An increasing waistline is a problem virtually everyone shares. So what is making us so obese as a species? There answer is really just inadequate nutrition. We need to place a higher emphasis on nutrition when it comes to what and how much we are eating. There are many reasons why weight is becoming a major problem including the increase in fast food restaurants, the increase in portion sizes and the increase in processed, sugary foods. Nevertheless, there’s an answer and it lies in nutritional awareness.
Food Is Our Energy Source
Today we keep our focus on food and it’s taste, as well as the quantity of it we eat, and we often overlook the basic fact that food is just our fuel. Our body turns the food we eat into energy, in order to keep us moving each day. We develop fat when we give our body too much fuel. When taking fat into consideration, our body’s are merely acting as they were designed. It is not our body’s way of getting back at us or being spiteful. Fat has several important functions for our body. It is fat which provides us with heat when we are cold, also the insulation to our bones and internal organs and even to our muscles is provided by fat only. When we eat too much, and we don’t burn off those calories with exercise or everyday activities, the excess gets turned into fat. Because of our daily eating habits, the body fat increases very fast.
